LEFT: New York Life Insurance Company Building off Madison Square Park. Last significant Cass Gilbert skyscraper in Manhattan. Gilbert also designed the landmark Woolworth Building. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1972. The building is topped with an octagonal golden-like spire Inspired by the Salisbury Cathedral in England. RIGHT: Merchandise Mart Building, 42-story skyscraper.
